Scholarships

 The Cape Verdean Recognition Committee of New Bedford is committed to empowering youth through education. Each year, the Committee awards scholarships to deserving students of Cape Verdean descent who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and pride in their heritage. Through these scholarships, the organization continues its mission of investing in the next generation of leaders while honoring the rich cultural legacy of the Cape Verdean community in New Bedford.

Cape Verdean Recognition Committee of New Bedford

Established in 1972, the Cape Verdean Recognition Committee of New Bedford is a nonprofit organization devoted to celebrating and preserving Cape Verdean culture, history, and contributions within the Greater New Bedford community. The Committee is best known for hosting the annual Cape Verdean Recognition Parade—one of the oldest celebrations of its kind in the United States—and for providing scholarships to local students of Cape Verdean descent. Through education, cultural events, and community outreach, the Committee continues to promote unity, pride, and opportunity for future generations.
